When borders opened and restrictions were lifted, it is said that Danish creatives traveled to Japan in search of new inspiration, which is how the Japandi-style interior design came to be. Japandi draws inspiration from two design concepts: Danish Hygge and Japanese “Wabi Sabi.” Wabi Sabi, which has its roots in Japanese aesthetics, values flaws and organic elements, whereas Hygge emphasizes coziness and warmth.
Through the use of natural materials and muted color schemes, Japandi skillfully blends these inspirations to create a harmonious style that prioritizes functionality, tranquility, and a timeless aesthetic.
